Becoming a presenter at 2NVR, your community radio station, is easy.
It's for you, by you, no matter who you are.
Presenting gives you the opportunity to have a media voice and presence, and to introduce others to your views on news, music, arts, crafts, sports, religion, politics, pets, or any of potentially thousands of other interests and ideas.
The up-coming two-day course covers many of the theoretical & practical aspects of radio broadcasting. We introduce you to radio broadcasting theory and practice, referring to a printed training manual and an accompanying presenter’s handbook. Before you go on air with your own program, you will also have a minimum of eight supervised on-air training sessions in our Tewinga studios.
Course Dates: Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 May 2018
Times: 10am till 3pm both days
Location: 2NVR Studios, 834 Rodeo Drive, Tewinga, 2449
The weekend course will cover the following aspects of broadcasting, and more:
- Safe broadcasting
- Community Broadcasting in Australia
- Station & studio operations
- Your rights & responsibilities
- Codes of conduct
- Regulations & broadcasting law
- Studio panel technique and theory
- Presentation and microphone skills
- Basic interviewing skills & techniques

You will also receive an introduction to some of the existing members and presenters of 2NVR, have an opportunity for hands-on experience in the studios with equipment, such as microphones, CD players, record players, computers etc — and be given basic knowledge about the ancillary equipment that allows us to broadcast radio signals.
Don’t forget — there are no silly questions, and we will do our best to answer them.
Course Cost: $60
Course cost includes a Presenter’s Handbook, full course notes, a year of 2NVR membership, the training session at our studios in Tewinga over two days (about eight hours in total), a minimum of eight two-hour supervised on-air training sessions, and an additional (date to be confirmed) four-hour Audacity (computer-based sound editing) training session.
