Rob Davidson

I present a weekly program called “Flashback” which features music from the 60’s to the 90’s and sometimes beyond that. Each week there is a “featured artist” in the 2nd hour of the program where I take listeners through the career and music of the artist or group. “Flashback” started on Braidwood Community Radio and I have done over 600 programs to date.

I joined 2NVR as a Presenter in September 2015, and came from Braidwood Community Radio, a station that I  started, and which I launched on air on Australia Day 2003. Before Braidwood FM   I  spent two years as a presenter on QBN-FM Queanbeyan (NSW) whilst working with their station manager and technician, who gave me advice and guidance in the process I had to follow to establish a community radio station.

During the 13 years at Braidwood FM, I held the positions of President and Sponsorship Sales for 13 years, and also took on the positions of Treasurer, Secretary, Station Manager, and Training Officer, at various times over that period. When I joined 2NVR I was only interested in being a presenter as I thought that after 13 plus years, doing all sorts of other roles I had done enough. Less than two months after joining 2NVR I was asked if I would respond to the Expression of Interest that was put out to take up the Sponsorship position. I applied, and was appointed to the position.

Around March 2016 the Treasurer position became vacant and I was asked if I would take on the role as a temporary appointment until the AGM later that year. I agreed and at the AGM I was nominated and elected as Treasurer.

Since then I became more involved in 2NVR activities by organising voiceovers for sponsor announcements from stations as diverse as Cairns, Nth Qld; Nowra, NSW; and Braidwood, NSW.  Sponsorship numbers have increased from 23 to over 40 resulting in an increase of almost double in sponsorship income, and I have also negotiated contra-deals for items as diverse as new chairs, Guttermesh to the roofing, Pizzas, an outside broadcast vehicle, and a new refurbished photocopier.

At the 2017 “Envies” Awards Dinner I was awarded the “Golden Peg” for service in support of 2NVR, and at the 2018 Awards I was awarded the “Hitching Post”.

“Flashback” is now being heard weekly on 2NVR Nambucca Valley Radio 105.9FM; Braidwood FM 88.9; Valley FM Tuggeranong ACT, and TEM-FM Temora.
