Alan and I joined 2NVR in 2011 after moving to Macksville from Penrith. We saw an advertisement in the local paper asking if anyone would like to become a presenter. We rang the number provided and spoke to Rob Turnell, who arranged to meet us on Monday morning and I was on air that afternoon in the Learner Driver slot. We discovered that radio gets into your blood and is addictive.
Previously Alan was a clothing cutter in Surry Hills and I worked for 20 odd years for the Bank of NSW, later to become Westpac, 10 years for Adept Air Conditioning at Silverwater and 7 years at Boval Engineering at Penrith. So the move into Community Radio was a big jump for both of us.
Our show, Baby Boomers, plays all the songs that we grew up with from 1955 to the 70’s. Alan produces the show and I present it on the radio. We have met some wonderful people through the radio and have had opportunities to interview some of the stars from the Rock and Roll Era. We also get involved with Outside Broadcasts including VW Spectacular, Macksville Show, taking our show out and about.
I also have another show on Sunday night’s from 5pm till 7pm, That’s a Wrap and during the winter months am part of the team that calls the Group 2 Rugby League.
